The pictures do not do the onsen at this ryokan justice. We arrived later than I had hoped because our car's navigation lead us in the wrong direction, but the staff never made us feel guilty and helped us to check in. Our room was Japanese style with a great view of the garden and the ravine the river flows into. My tween found the futons very comfy. They worked with our dietary restrictions to make a wonderful multi-course Japanese meal, though I admit, I think I still liked the tempura course best. My tween slept through breakfast, but I really liked the fruit smoothie, which was lighter than I expected. The onsen are amazing here. There is the very traditional looking bathes overlooking a waterfall as well as two other floors of onsen, some of which rotate between men and women. Most of the onsen are also quite deep. My only regrets are we arrived late and couldn't explore the town and that I didn't buy the special chopsticks for sale here.

What an amazing hotel! The shuttle bus service from Fukushima Station was excellent and the driver helped me with my luggage (too many Kokeshi dolls!) Even leaving the hotel, I was about to take an ordinary bus back to Fukushima, the driver spotted me, stopped the bus and helped me on. the staff were extremely helpful, friendly and attentive. Amazed by all the Kokeshi displays around the hotel. my room was fabulous, really spacious and had a stunning view from my window. Onsens in this hotel were a dream, overlooking waterfalls and stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Breakfast was delicious, heaps to choose from and I was totally satisfied with my Japanese breakfast I selected. Didn’t have dinner in my booking but luckily I was given the option to do so and glad I did. high end restaurant quality.

This was the most wonderful of the places we stayed in Japan, all of which where exceptional. The food is well prepared, varied and brilliant. The room was perfectly appointed. We stayed in the suit so it was particulally nice. The indoor baths where our favourates, piping hot with some great views. The service was exceptional, the staff where very kind and accomodating of our (very) out of practice Japanese. I would recommend this place happily to anyone wanting to get away, unwind and enjoy hot water and good food.

Beautiful place to stay! All the facilities I tried were wonderful. The outdoor pool was a highlight. The room was spacious and people came in to set up my futon on my first night. The restaurant was very considerate and the vegetarian options provided were delicious. For breakfast - the fresh chocolate croissants were my favourite!

A really great place to chill for a couple of days and get a feel for true Japanese culture. The hotel is in a great spot, really quiet and peaceful. Really enjoyed the private bath areas so we could just relax. Also the masseuse on the 6th floor is really really good...
